The bright and bubbly Maya Wilkinson has a wealth of retail experience up her sleeve and has put her time and energy into opening Stone & River, a colourful boutique at the top end of Main Street.
Stone & River has been named after Ms Wilkinson's farm in Hartley which contains a rammed earth, off-grid house. "We're trying to leave a small footprint and I wanted to do that with fashion as well," she said.
The boutique will promote slow fashion Australian brands and there will also be home wares, accessories and a skin care range available.
"It's a fun, cute, bohemian style and all the brands are ethically sourced which means they are a little bit more expensive but you're buying pieces that will last forever," Ms Wilkinson said.
She said with a higher price range a customer could purchase a dress from anywhere between $89 through to $300.
"It depends on what the brand is but the pricing is based upon the fact that it's slow fashion, they are designer labels but you're also making a difference for example if you buy a Will & Bare hat, they plant 10 trees in Africa," she said.

She said the ranges available at Stone & River were also done via drops, meaning the stock that comes in is a one-off.
Ms Wilkinson said she was skeptical when approaching different brands to stock in the store, not knowing if they would be on board or not. "When I approached a lot of the brands I was a bit skeptical whether they would want to even come to Lithgow because you know, it's such a little small town and there might be some worry on how it will sell.
"But when I said we're a small town and it'd be a really great economic boost for the Central West region to have their brands, they were on board. Within a couple of days, I had all the brands I approached, it was ridiculous," she said.
Ms Wilkinson said Stone & River offers a sizing range in certain brands from XS through to six double XL.
"I am trying to cater for every kind of woman," she said.
"I really encourage people who are scared about trying a different style to give it a go. Boho is a different vibe but you can scale it from zero to 100," she said.
"You can go full boho and look like a 70s epic icon, or you can just have one little piece.

"But I do feel with this sort of style and the sort of clothes that I have, they're very flattering to a woman. You can make it look sexy but you don't have to. You can have it for the breastfeeding mum or the plus size mum or the thicker or slimmer woman, or for the younger girls - there's no barriers," she said.
Ms Wilkinson said she loved to style people and was happy to offer advice when trying items on.
"I want everyone to feel happy and good about themselves. You know, that's what we're all about, encouraging women to feel good about themselves," she said.
Stone & River is ready to open its doors but Ms Wilkinson said she is waiting for COVID lockdown to lift.
"As soon as we can open our doors I will be open but in the meantime we are operating online so we have delivery and click and collect available and we also deliver internationally," she said.
She said she plans to open her boutique from Tuesday to Sunday when restrictions ease and encourages people to check out her store.
