President Geoff Stait knows its hard to set things in stone with changing COVID restrictions and lockdowns, but he's determined to at least try and put on a much-needed competition for the community.
"We tried to hold an AGM a couple of weeks ago but because of COVID we couldn't do it, so we've made another date for September 15 and our fingers are crossed," he said.
He said touch footy has been enjoyed by the town of Portland since 1979 and COVID was the biggest obstacle they had faced.
"It's one of the hardest things we've had to deal with in terms of putting on a competition," he said.
"But we're hoping to be able to get out and play starting in the middle of October, so hopefully restrictions ease a bit by then."
Stait said players aged from 14 to 70 enjoy the competition and he encouraged more people to join.

"We have a men's comp on Wednesdays and a mixed comp on Thursday nights, it's a fun time and a great way to socialise.
"Most people care for the fun of it and it's a good family outing as well," he said.
He said anyone who was interested in joining or organising a team should follow the Portland Touch Football Association Facebook page.
"We had 14 mixed and nine men's teams last year so it would be good to have somewhere around that number again.
"The more people we can get the better and if people are interested in playing or organising their own side just keep an eye out on the Facebook page," he said.
"We will also post COVID updates on there as well."
