With the support of the Western NSW Local Health District, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) will set up a "pop-up" vaccination clinic at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre that will run for six days.
With no plans announced for a Lithgow pop-up clinic, the Bathurst clinic will also be available to residents of Lithgow, Oberon and Blayney. Lithgow residents can still get their vaccine by booking at Ochre Medical Centre, Blooms the Chemist or Wallerawang Pharmacy, your mileage may vary with availabilities.
The health district announced dates mid-last month for a series of ADF clinics in the region.
They began in Dubbo, which has been the epicentre of the Delta strain outbreak in the Western NSW Local Health District so far, and have since moved through various western communities.
Bathurst will get its turn from this Monday, September 6 to Saturday, September 11.
"Both AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines will be available, depending on each person's eligibility," Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said.
"This is a walk-up clinic, which means there is no need to book ahead.
"However, remember to come prepared with food and drink, as the queue may be long.
"And depending on the weather, a hat and sunscreen may also be advisable."
The guidelines for vaccination include:
- 12 years and over - Pfizer for people who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or have a significant underlying medical condition or disability;
- 16 to 59 years - Pfizer for people from the general population;
- 60 years and over - AstraZeneca (exemptions for those in this group wanting alternative vaccine will not be available at this walk-in clinic, please make an appointment with a suitable provider).
Those attending will need to bring a form of identification and, where able, their Medicare card.
