The Lithgow Mercury recently spoke with Nevaeh Beauty owner Ashleigh Groves on how you can deal with your mask acne.
Mask acne or 'Maskne' is an adverse skin reaction caused by prolonged mask wearing. Given the latest rules around COVID-19, most of us find ourselves wearing a mask for eight hours or more a day.
Mrs Groves said masks can cause your skin to dry out and there was no better time than now, to give your skin some love.
"Mask wearing can cause some people to experience dry skin, red rashes, bumps, flakiness or acne," she said.

"Skin care is always important, but your skin will need lots of love during the cooler months as it needs to adjust and adapt to temperature changes and heating."
She said a simple preventative Maskne measure was to wash your mask regularly or change often, if using a disposable one.
"Be mindful when washing to use a very mild detergent as this may cause a reaction itself," she said.
She said treatment for Maskne depended on the individual and whether it's caused by a bacterial infection, dermatitis or manageable with a good skin care routine.
"Once we have determined what your skin concerns are we can work on helping you."
She said skin care was a "no brainer" for her and encouraged people to invest in a good self-care regime.
"When we look after our skin, our skin looks good. When our skin looks good, we feel good and there is no better feeling than that."
Mrs Groves top five skin care tips include:
- Cleanse - starting and finishing your day with fresh clean skin is essential.
- Hydrate- hydrate your skin inside and out. By using hydrating products and drinking lots of water.
- Prevention- prevent skin damage starting now with use of Vitamin C and sun protection.
- Actives- don't be scared of "Active Ingredients" that's what works and they will be your best friend.
- Moisturize - A moisturizer should be used daily to protect and hydrate your skin
She also suggested the Dermaenergy products with active ingredients that will assist with your Maskne.
"Hyaluronic acid is best for hydration and skin plumping, Niacinamide is a skin soothing antioxidant known to reduce redness and irritation, pineapple enzymes will help to unclog pores and refine your complexion and ginger and liquorice are anti-inflammatory heroes and will bring relief to sensitive skin," she said.
