The 24 year-old Olympian's goal sent Australia through to the Tokyo 2020 men's hockey gold medal match to be played against Belgium on Thursday.
Sharp's parents Richard and Tania said it was an amazing feeling to watch their son on the world stage and they were cheering him on from their decorated lounge room.
The community followed suit and showed their support through decorating shop windows and the street with green and yellow balloons, sharing their green and gold pride.
Sharp's former schools Zig Zag Public and Lithgow High had current students create good luck signs on behalf of the school and wish him good luck and to go for gold.

Lithgow City Council congratulated Sharp on his ongoing exceptional performance while over in Tokyo,
"Lachlan has been integral to the Australian men's hockey team's success so far in Tokyo, dominating Japan, India, Argentina, New Zealand, Netherlands and Germany, and tying with Spain," mayor Ray Thompson said.
"With his extraordinary talent and the full support of the Council and his home community, Lachlan has already made us all very proud. All the best, and good luck Lachlan."
