This past week three Central West local government areas went into a strict stay-at-home orders as NSW Health raced to contain a possible outbreak of the deadly Delta strain of COVID-19.
Lithgow also handled a COVID scare when Coles was informed that a customer who had tested positive for COVID visited the Coles Express Lithgow store between 6:20am and 6:40am on Friday, July 16.
"Anyone with even the mildest of cold-like symptoms is urged to immediately come forward for testing and isolate until a negative result is received," Mr Carey said.
The COVID testing clinic at Lithgow Hospital is open seven days a week if you need to get checked.
"We are grateful for the patience residents have demonstrated during busy periods at our testing clinics and while awaiting results," he said.
"At this time, it's incredibly important that everyone do their bit by following Public Health Orders and getting tested for even the mildest of cold and flu symptoms.
"In this way, you can help protect your family and friends and the Lithgow community."

Mr Carey said it was also important to limit travel at this time.
"People who don't know they're infected may be passing through the area to perform essential services like the delivery of food and fuel," he said.
"That's why even though we might not have local cases in Lithgow at the moment, we still need to limit our movements to what is essential."
Please keep up-to-date on the list of venues of concern, available on the NSW Government website, as this information is regularly updated.
Mr Carey said that receiving a COVID-19 vaccination is one of the best ways to help protect against the virus.
"I urge people in Lithgow to be vaccinated as soon as they are able to," he said.
