Our Life Member, Peg Cronin passed away last year as a result of a melanoma that was supposedly removed from her neck.
The husband of one of our members suffered the same tragic outcome and four of our Lady Members have had invasive surgery as a direct result of the dreaded disease as well as those who have had minor procedures to remove spots, moles etc.
As we know Golf is a sport that requires the participants to be out in the sun for periods of 4-5 hours per round and whilst we try to do the right thing as far as skin protection is concerned we are probably not as diligent with the sun cream as we should be.
A practice everyone should be more conscious about.
As a result of the impact to our players, last year the Lady Golfers decided to chip in for the Melanoma Foundation and started the "3 putts for Melanoma" penalty jar.
Due to the shut down for coronavirus and club closure the Ladies extended the time to include part of 2021.
The rules were simple: each three putt per hole required a 50c penalty payment with a $2 cap limit per day. Our club has 22 playing Lady Members and the "3 putts" raised $400 which should equate to at least 800 "3 putts" over the period.

A good effort from the Lady Golfers for a well worthwhile cause.
Last week due to the bitterly cold days no Lady Golfers braved the conditions however on Wednesday it was a beautiful winter's day so the Ladies came out to play the ever popular Monthly Medals and Narelle Potts trophy day.
The winner of the second division Monthly medals and trophy on a count back was the ever consistent Julie Murnane with 74 nett. Winner of the 1st division medal was Lynne Ritchie also with 74 nett.
