But, the away side's early highlight would be the only impact it had on the scoreboard as the defending premiers ran amok from the point onward, blowing the Wolves off the face of the earth with a 88-6 demolition job.
You'd be here until Christmas if we listed a full play-by-play, but here's what you need to know.
Panthers left was dynamic as the likes of Desi Doolan - who collected four tries - and Jeremy Gordon were scintillating, while the usual suspects, Doug Hewitt, Josh Rivett and Keelan Bresac were also impactful.
David Sellers and Daniel Bain got the troops moving forward, while Willie Wright was masterful, particularly with his passing game.
Bresac, who played against his old teammates for the second time this season, says it's always hard to put your former club to the sword.

Touching on the way the game unfolded, the centre was impressed with how the speedsters took pressure off the forward pack, while noting the talent of Jeremy Gordon.

They did the majority of their work in the second half, having only entered the sheds with a 34-6 advantage.
Gordon ran riot over Workies early in the second half to set up several tries, including the fourth for Doolan in the 62nd minute.
At that stage, with a 66-6 lead, Panthers could have put their feet up but instead they added another 22 points to the tally.
Bresac, Malik Blenman. Dylan Miles and Jed Betts each finished with two tries to their name.
BATHURST PANTHERS 88 (Desi Doolan 4, Keelan Bresac 2, Malik Blenman 2, Dylan Miles 2, Jed Betts 2, Willie Wright, Doug Hewitt, Jake Betts, Storm Siejka tries; Wright 12 conversions) defeated LITHGOW WORKIES 6
