Lillian was the backbone of Lithgow Garden Club from the very first information meeting seeking expressions of interest in the formation of a Garden Club.
Lillian brought a wealth of experience having been president, secretary, treasurer, social secretary, newsletter editor, publicity officer and finding interesting guest speakers.
The Blue Mountains Zone hosted Garden Clubs of Australia National Convention in 2011 with Lillian as Treasurer and Al Ritchie as President and it was a great success.
With the loss of president Helen McInnes, Lillian stepped in and confidently took the reins, steering the Club through a time of grief in her quiet and confident way.
Lillian was honoured with Life Membership in 2014.
Born in John Street, Lithgow, Lillian was the youngest of four children. She attended Lithgow Primary School and Lithgow High School.
After completing school, Lillian commenced work at Lithgow City Council and then Johnstons Tyre Service before joining the administration staff at Lithgow District Hospital and finally Portland Hospital in administration.
