Community organisations in the local area are again being given the opportunity to share in part of $120,000 funding as part of Westfund Health Insurance's annual Community Grants program.
Now in its third year, the Westfund Community Grants Program has helped dozens of community organisations and events with funding and access to valuable defibrillator equipment.
"We're always proud of the ties we have with our members and the community of Lithgow," Westfund CEO Mark Genovese said.
"One of our underlying responsibilities is to give back to the many communities we serve, and our grants program is one of the ways we can provide this support."
Westfund's Community Grants Program gives eligible organisations the chance to apply for grants of up to $2500, or for a defibrillator unit.
The program is built on a foundation of three pillars: Family and Community, Health and Wellbeing and Fit for Life.
The grants program has already been of benefit to the Lithgow area, with local organisations already recipients of funding or a defibrillator.
They include Lithgow Women's Shed, Lithgow Information and Neighbourhood Centre, Pied Piper Pre-School, headspace Lithgow, Portland Central School, Can Assist Lithgow, Quota International Lithgow branch, Lithgow District Men's Shed Association, Thrive Services Lithgow, Lithgow Bears Rugby League Football Club, Lithgow Valley Pistol Club Inc., Lithgow District Junior Cricket Association, Uniting Church in Australia Lithgow Parish, Bowenfels Charge of Presbyterian Church of Australia, Zig Zag Railway, Lithgow Community Nursery and Lithgow Flash Dragons Dragon Boat Club.
Each of these organisations were able to show that their activities improved and enhanced the local community via the delivery of a service or program catered to community need.
Applications for Round One of the Westfund Community Grants Program 2021 are now open and will close on Thursday, May 13.
