IMAGINE not legally being able to be behind the wheel yet notching an Australian title for speedway racing under your belt.
That's the reality for 15 year-old Jaiden Healey.
The Portland local is in all his glory after claiming the Australian RSA Junior Sedan Title at Gilgandra Speedway recently.
"To win an Australian title in junior sedans is something that I've always wanted to do, so to actually do it is something that is very special for my family and I," Healey said.
"I had the perfect night at Gilgandra, and none of this would've been possible without the support of my team and all of our sponsors," he said.
It was Healey's second attempt at the Australian title and he was determined after his qualifying events where after he claimed three from three wins in his heat races.
From his qualifying performances, he earned the right to start the title-deciding feature race from pole position in his number nine Honda Civic sponsored by Bettergrow Landscape and Rural Supplies and Portland Automotive.
The race saw Healey manage pressure over 25 laps before crossing the finish line.
"To say I'm wrapped with the title win would be quite the understatement," Healey said.
Being his final season in the RSA Junior Sedans and with a title win now in the bag, Healey said he was hungry for more success.
"There are still a few major race meetings left on the calendar this season, so I'm looking forward to trying to finish my time in junior sedans on a high note," he said.
Next on the calendar will be the NSW Title at Dubbo's Morris Park Speedway on Saturday, May 29, followed by the Queensland Title at Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane on June 5.
Healey will then make his debut in the senior speedway competition through the SSA Production Sedan class.
He wanted to thank his 2020/21 season sponsors.
