Emergency services responded to a truck on fire near Forty Bends Road on the Great Western Highway, east of Lithgow on Tuesday, April 6.

Lithgow's Fire and Rescue and NSW Rural Fire Service crews were called to the scene at Little Hartley just before 2.30pm.
Upon arrival, firefighters were faced with a truck fully engulfed in flames that was carrying a mixed load of cardboard and dog food.
The truck driver managed to get out of the vehicle prior to emergency services arriving. No injuries were reported.
The highway was closed with traffic blocked in both directions. NSW Ambulance and NSW Police remained on scene to assist with firefighting and traffic control.
Crews worked to extinguish the blaze around 4.30pm and remained on site to cool down hot spots.

FRNSW crews in attendance included 386 Mount Victoria, 363 Lithgow, 364 Lithgow West and 483 Wallerawang.
The cause of the blaze is currently undetermined and investigations continue.
