It was a memorable moment for the Lithgow side as they took on Kissing Point FC in round three of the Football Federation Australia (FFA) Cup on Thursday, April 1.

Crowds flocked to the showground for the match creating an atmosphere like no other and cheered on their local team.

Despite home ground advantage Workmans went down 5-0 to the Eastern Suburbs squad but it was a much-needed competitive preseason match for the Lithgow boys as they prepare to head into the Western Premier League (WPL) and Bathurst District Football competition.

"It was a good chance for us to have some preseason competitive training," Workmans WPL coach and player Brad Luka said.

He said the result was less than ideal but it gave him the clarity of what his squad needs to work on as they head into the 2021 season.

"Five-nil is not the scoreline it should be, after they scored that second goal our head went down, but we pushed forward and got on with it," he said.

Luka said his team would continue to work on finding the back of the net.

"We need to work on our finishing mainly, we had a few chances out there but we haven't got players who want to finish goals whereas Kissing Point did," he said.

He said his defenders in Peter Bourke and Chris Goodman stood out from the match as well as his midfielders.

"We all worked quite well together."

Luka said playing under lights at Tony Luchetti was something he'd like to do again.

"It'd be nice to play on this every week but it'd also be nice to have some lights down at Marjorie Jackson.

"It was great to have a grandstand though, where our supporters could sit and cheer us on, thanks to the crowd for coming down," he said.

Lithgow Workmans are set to kick off round one of the WPL at home on Saturday, April 10 where they will take on rivals Panorama FC at Marjorie Jackson at 3pm.
