Crews from NSW Police, VRA and NSW Ambulance were called to Lithgow from Katoomba, Oberon and Bathurst to assist. They were fully stretched around the Lithgow LGA attending to multiple incidents.
Trapped man
A 23 year-old man remains in a critical condition after a trench he was digging collapsed on him.
Emergency services were called to the property at Walker Drive, Wallerawang, around 4.30pm on Sunday, April 4. Police and NSW ambulance paramedics attended and began to dig the man out and commenced CPR while still attempting to free him.
He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Westmead hospital.
Distress in the Plateau
Police and paramedics spent the night in the Newnes Plateau north of Lithgow, with a canyoner who fell and injured her ankle.
The 25 year-old Redfern woman was canyoning with 12 other people in the Rocky Creek canyon area where she fell around 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon, April 4.
The group with the woman activated a EPIRB distress beacon. Some members left to meet with emergency personnel while others stayed with the woman.
Two Blue Mountains Police Rescue officers and two specialist Ambulance paramedics went to the woman's aid however it was too late to attempt a retrieval.
The emergency services personnel remained with the woman overnight before having her winched out by the TOLL helicopter at 7am on Monday morning, April 5.
The woman was taken to Nepean hospital.
Lost in the bush
Lithgow Volunteer Rescue members assisted the Rylstone and Kandos crews for a search and rescue of a man believed to be lost in bushland on Saturday, April 4. As Lithgow arrived in Capertee they were notified the man had been located.
Motorcyclist airlifted
A 49-year-old man was airlifted to Westmead hospital in a stable condition after crashing his motorcycle with another vehicle near Blackheath on April 3.
He was thrown from his bike and suffered a leg fracture.
NSW Ambulance crews provided treatment to the man before being flown by the CareFlight helicopter to Westmead hospital.
