Lithgow City Council announced on Thursday, April 1, that it is looking at running its own Anzac Day service. This comes after the Lithgow RSL Sub-Branch announced earlier in the week that it would not be hold any such event this year.

'Council recently became aware that the ANZAC Day events traditionally run by the Lithgow RSL Sub-Branch would not be proceeding due to the impact of the requirements for COVID Safe measures,' a release from Council said.
They said that it was unfortunate that COVID continued to impact and disrupt communities in a number of different ways. 'While the RSL typically run a number of events on ANZAC Day to commemorate and recognise service- people, this year they have elected not to do so,' Council said.
Council confirmed that the Lithgow RSL Sub-Branch informed Council that the requirement for COVID safe measures have presented difficulties for the running of this normally well-attended event.
Council is currently considering undertaking an alternative, scaled-back COVID-Safe event on 25 April. Further details will be provided soon.
