Grippers seemed set to pull off a big upset over Sharnie's Boys when, after trailing 2-0 early on, they lead 4-2 and then 7-6 just past the halfway mark.
It was not to be however, as the Boys completed the singles with a 6-1 run to take an unbeatable 12-8 break into the doubles.
The teams split the two doubles rubbers, Grippers taking the first 2-1 and Sharnie's Boys the second 2-0, for a final score of Sharnie's Boys 15, Grippers 10.
The in-form Leon Rust led the way for Sharnie's Boys, turning in a faultless 6-0 performance, with good backup coming from Jason Bailey (4-4) and Sharnie Roberts (2-4).
Lou Kappos (4-2) was the only Gripper to finish with a winning record, as Riza Wiradi was up-and-down for 3-4 and Shane Eagle returned 1-6.
