Members of Can Assist Lithgow have been working hard over the last six years to provide financial support to cancer patients within the Lithgow LGA.
Secretary Lesley Townsend said the group currently has 160 clients on the books and has helped many more financially to the amount of $3000.
"The money can go toward their rates or their medical bills, or transport to and from their accommodations, basically anything that impacts on their finances while undergoing treatment," she said.
Ms Townsend said she felt honoured to be able to help those who require assistance.
"I just love it. I love it.
"It's very heart wrenching sometimes, because the stories that you hear absolutely would just blow your mind," she said.
"All cases are just heartbreaking and it makes me feel so good that we can help.
"We make a little difference but a lot of difference."
Ms Townsend also wanted to thank Clarence Colliery and Mount Piper Power Station for their contributions to Can Assist, after the group were not able to hold fundraisers due to COVID-19.
"We were doing fundraising with no end but then COVID stopped us and we became restricted a little bit," she said.
"But Clarence and Mount Piper do an employee contribution every month and without them well, we would be finished - so thank you," she said.
Can Assist Lithgow president Maree Statham said she was pleased to work alongside a great bunch of ladies who care for people in the Lithgow area.
"This great group of ladies are dedicated and have sympathy and empathy towards the person that requires some care and it's important that we recognise there are a lot more people out there who are less fortunate and sometimes they need a helping hand," she said.
Can Assist Lithgow meet on the first Wednesday of every month at Fatima Hall at 2pm.
