Vinnies Lithgow is looking for volunteers at its Main Street shop.
Volunteer of six years, Dell Mudie encouraged people to help the less fortunate.
"We don't get paid but we work here for the devoted philosophy of Vinnies - to help the poor and the needy, and believe me there is quite a few here [in Lithgow]," she said.
Ms Mudie said Lithgow had a two-speed economy.
"We have the rich and the not so rich, we [volunteers] are here to help people who are genuinely in need," she said.
She said she loved being a volunteer at Lithgow Vinnies and encouraged others to get on board.
"When you get on a bit [with age] you want to give back to your community, and this is a great way of doing it.

"Please don't give it another thought, come and volunteer the rewards are great," Ms Mudie said.
"We do need volunteers and we need them desperately."
Vinnies Lithgow was temporarily closed last year due to the pandemic but has since reopened with COVID-safe measures in place.
Sales from Vinnies shops are used to fund support services offering food, clothing, financial aid, crisis accommodation and other assistance.
Becoming a volunteer requires people to donate a few hours of their time each week to help with roles including customer service, sorting donations and maintaining day-to-day running of the shop.
