"I am very excited to be selected," Thompson said of her selection in the Blues team.
"This years nationals will be held in Bathurst in the April school holidays so it will be amazing to be able to play in front of my friends and family and on my home turf."
Thompson has been doing a lot of fitness training over the holidays and said she tried to get on the turf whenever she could.
"COVID has had a huge impact on everybody, we had a shortened hockey season last year and missed out on some major tournaments so hopefully if all goes well the other states and territories will all be able to come to Bathurst and compete at the Australian Championships," she said.
Thompson said the plan was for the NSW side to come together as a team for two major training sessions before they meet in Bathurst to head into the camp.

She hoped to be playing in the centre both attacking and defending.
"I hope to have a good tournament, play hard and hopefully help my team come away with some good wins," she said.
"I am looking forward to playing close to home and catching up with the girls in my team, reuniting with old friends and making some new ones.
"Thanks to my coaches and family for all their continued support."
Thompson's oldest sister Emily is also part of the current NSW Under 21s squad with the National Tournament being held in July.
