POLICE have confirmed a motorcyclist who collided with a tree at Glanmire on Tuesday evening has died.

A spokesperson for NSW Police said the cyclist, who has yet to be formally identified, died at the scene, despite the best efforts of first responders who attended the crash.
Paramedics and police rushed to Glanmire Road, about 12km east of the city after receiving a triple 000 call for help.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said the call for help came just after 6pm, with reports a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after colliding with a tree.
Police rushed to the scene, along with four ambulance crews.
The emergency chopper was also summonsed from Bankstown, to assist paramedics on the ground.

Initial reports given to paramedics said the person had suffered extensive head injuries in the collision.
The road was closed in both directions for some time as a result of the crash, with drivers diverted around the scene.
Police investigations into the crash are underway.
