Starting at the beginning of the term seven weeks ago, Little Athletics has been in full swing, getting athletes ready for a bunch of competitions later this year.
Club president Phil Wells said that numbers were up in 2020, which was an extremely good sign for the relatively small club.
"We even have the tots happening where young children can learn basic skills," he said.
Despite COVID-19 restrictions, Wells said that athletics wasn't affected.
"Athletics is lucky in a sense that it just works despite the restrictions," he said.
"We have sanitation stations and we're making sure everyone keeps their distances but otherwise it is business as normal."
The kids have been participating in events such as the discuss, shot put, hurdles, multiple running and walking events including the 100 metres, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and three kilometres races, javelin, high jump, long jump, triple jump and more.
"Each kid really gets in and has a go," Wells said.
While the club has many young athletes, there tends to be a drop off once the kids hit 14.
"We have individual groups for those between six and 12 and then we mix the 13 to 17 years together because there is a drop off which is such a shame," he said.

Wells said that Little Athletics is the basis for most sports.
"It really doesn't matter the body shape or fitness abilities because there is always an event for everyone," he said.
The young athletes are gearing up for a full schedule of competitions, with an All Schools athletics carnival to qualify them for Nationals next March, a club multi event in Katoomba in early December, before gearing up for a state qualifier event.
"We would normally have zone and regionals before state but this year it is a little different and there will be one competition to get through to state but I think we can get plenty of kids through," Wells said.
Wells said the Lithgow Little Athletics was a nice little club.
"We get really good results from quite small numbers, we might have 35 qualify for zone and then we will have 11 go on to state which is really good," he said.
