But it did not worry a good number of golfers who turned it some excellent scores with 13 golfers shooting scores in the seventies.
The event was a bisque par with golfers having to manage their handicap and use their shots where they need to.
New board member Leo Murnane took out C grade with one of the best scores of the day with a very good +6 counting out runner up Richard Mara who also carded +6.
Best scratch score went to Rob George on 91.
One of the most improved golfers in the club is Brock Egan who took out A grade with +5 after shooting a two under par 70.
Runner up was Travis Cameron on +4 while the scratch winner was Andrew Burton with 72.
It was a good day for the Cameron's with Travis' father Trevor returning a +6 to win B grade.
Runner up was Brad Gordon on +4 and the best scratch score belonged to Tallan Egan with a 82.
Nearest to the pins went to Michael Saville, Justin McCann, Brad Preston, Paul Bailey and Andrew Burton.
Vouchers went down to those with +1 and better and they were Nathan Harris, Ian Northey, Anthony Oldfield, Max McCann, Ross Harrington, Brett Scanlon, Justin Nelson, Rob Ritchie, Rod Clarke, Carlos Garibotto, Geoff Wheeler, Warren Kennedy, Don Lovett, Peter Haley, Don Farnsworth and Mark Willmott.

The winner of the Wednesday, October 21 nine hole competition was Craig Pugsley with 22 points on a countback.
Runner up was Les Barnes on 22 points and third was Ross King on 21 points.
Vouchers went down to those with 18 points on a countback and they were Steve Jennings, Geoff Dukes, Peter Williams, Rob George, Anthony Oldfield, Rob George, Anthony Oldfield, Steve McCann, Al Mostyn and Paul Stewart.
Nearest to the pins were Ross King and Anthony Oldfield.
The winner of the Friday, October 23 nine hole competition was Jeff Geddes on 24 points.
Vouchers went to Don Farnsworth, Al Glendinning, Brian Giblett and Rob George.
Nearest to the pin was Max Nightingale.
Next Saturday's event will be the popular monthly medals and golfers are reminded that the Lithgow Open will be held on Sunday, December 6.
