The units have been training in the latest fire and rescue techniques at the new state-of-the-art Practical Learning Environment (PLE) at the Emergency Services Academy in Western Sydney.
With training scenarios that include search and rescue of burning buildings, fuel fires in service stations and accessing and extinguishing fires on the upper levels of buildings, firefighters are able to further polish their skills to help them protect the community.
The Practical Learning Environment of the new Fire and Rescue Academy has a streetscape, a trainline, an underground train station, an urban search and rescue collapsed structure training ground and a purpose built training tower for simulated building fires, rope rescue and lift shaft rescues.
The training tower at the Academy also has an external cladding fire training area.

The Zone Management Team from the Blue Mountains lead by Superintendent Matthew Waldon stressed the important impact that this training will have in ensuring the community is protected.
"It is an operational imperative to have our FRNSW crews receive realistic training in addition to normal station drills and skills maintenance programs," he said.
"The Academy is world class and the local crews have been put through some very interesting scenarios.
