A pipe malfunction in the Fish River Water Supply network - managed by WaterNSW - malfunctioned on Monday, disrupting the supply of water to Lithgow City Council.
Residents of Wallerawang, Portland, Cullen Bullen, Glen Davis, Lidsdale and Rydal have been advised to conserve water, and that they may be subject to periodic outages to extend supply while the fault is rectified.
Lithgow Council and WaterNSW are monitoring supply levels and if needed, an alternative supply will be provided which will require residents to boil water for an extended period.
Residents of the impacted areas can register for daily email updates at www.waternsw.com.au/emergencypipelinerepairs.
In order to prolong supply, reservoirs are being topped up Friday, Saturday and Sunday via water tanks. While this occurs, some residents may lose water supply for up to four hours.
Residents left without water for longer than four hours or who require bottled drinking water should contact Lithgow City Council (02) 6354 9999.
Residents with a portable tank, can access the Barton Street standpipe to fill it.
