Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass this Sunday, 11 October to continue a trial traffic management plan to ease congestion.
Transport for NSW said they will monitor traffic in real time and stop vehicles at the bottom of Victoria Pass if queuing at Blackheath reaches Victoria Pass.
This is to prevent active queueing on the 2.2 kilometre incline at Victoria Pass, which is prone to vehicles overheating and breaking down.
The same traffic management plan was implemented on the October long weekend, and resulted in reduced queue lengths, improved journey times and no breakdowns.
The crew will be monitoring traffic from 11am to 7pm and traffic control and speed reductions will be in place as required to ensure safety of motorists and road crews.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, plan ahead, remain patient and alert and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs.
