They're 'No Show Scarecrows'.
Rydal A H & P Society made the decision to take part in the 'No Show Scarecrow' initiative.
The project, organised by the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW, is in support of all show societies that were unable to hold their shows in 2020 due to COVID-19.
The 'No Show Scarecrow' campaign aims to start a conversation about the value of local shows as well as connecting.
Rydal Show secretary Rachael Young said Rydal made the decision in particular to support Lithgow Show.
"We did it to support our neighbouring Lithgow Show Society who were forced to cancel their show, in March the week before it was to be held," she said.
NSW usually holds 192 shows around the state each year involving thousands of volunteers, competitors, sponsors and locals who enjoy attending these community events.
Agricultural shows in Australia attract six million visitors annually and the volunteer hours required to run the 660 shows makes the show movement the largest volunteer network in the country.
The show movement has been part of Australian life for well over a century.
Whilst the Rydal Show was able to go ahead in early February this year the vast majority of other shows across the state were sadly cancelled.
"Many of us were left without a major community event that brings people to town and supports locals," Ms Young said.
The Rydal Show Society members Helen Black, Eleanor Black, Mark and Rachael Young, Noah, Lucas and Thomas Kable and the students and teachers at Meadow Flat Public School have taken part in the 'No Show Scarecrow' project.
"We have five scarecrows which are displayed in the main street in Rydal," Ms Young said.
Materials used for the scarecrows include scrap timber, old fence posts, broom handles, an old shirt, boots, overalls, hat and filler materials such as rags, straw and plastic bags
"We had great fun making the scarecrows and they look fantastic displayed around town," Ms Young said.
The 'No Show Scarecrows' will be on display until the end of October.
Lithgow Show Society have also put a call out for the initiative and people can get involved with either society by contacting Rachael Young via the Rydal Show Facebook Page or Vanetta Renshaw on 6353 1775.
If you make a scarecrow use social media with the hashtag #noshowscarecrow. Schools are also encouraged to get on board.
