Emergency services were called to rescue a teenger in the Blue Mountains on Sunday after the boy fell 40 metres down an embankment.

According to police, at about 12pm on Sunday, 13 September, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command were called to Martin's Lookout near Springwood after a 16-year-old boy slipped and fell approximately 40 metres down an embankment.

Police arrived to find the teenager at the base of a cliff in need of medical attention.
Police Rescue officers with the assistance of Fire and Rescue NSW immediately commenced a rescue operation and winched the teen to safety at about 3.15pm, Sunday afternoon.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transferred to hospital.
The teenager's injuries aren't considered life threatening.
