The business now affectionately named 'Malibu Hair and Beauty' is for all intents and purposes the same, but has just had a bit of an upgrade.
"Everything is the same, nothing has changed, I just pay the bills now," Hollie said.
Hollie first started working at the hairdressing studio five years ago, based on pure luck.
"I was overseas and my Mum sent me a hairdressing job on Gumtree, so I rang the girls here and said 'I know you can't hold a position for me but I would really love to work there'," she said.
Luckily the girls did hold the position and when Hollie came back it was all hers.
"They then asked me how I found out about the job and I said 'Gumtree' and they told me that wasn't their ad, so it was pure luck they were hiring at the time, I'm not sure who else in Lithgow was hiring but it felt like this was meant to be," she said.
Speaking of things that were meant to be, it has become a full circle moment for Hollie taking over the business.
"My Mum worked here as an apprentice and it was where she met my Dad, and then I became an apprentice here," she said.
Hollie said she had always wanted her own shop and the timing couldn't have been more perfect with previous owner Tiarne Roots stepping down.
"I was travelling between Lithgow and the coast but I had such a good client base here it made no sense to leave," she said.
Hollie said she gave her clients forewarning that she would be taking over and changing the name so when they walked past or called they wouldn't be confused.
"But we answer the phone and they recognise our names so the change over has actually been quite smooth," she said.
Hollie said she has introduced a new hair care range as well as expanded their current range.
"I was also scared at how I would go giving orders to people, but I haven't really had to, I bought the girls new trolleys and just said that I expect them to be packed up and cleaned and they oblige," she said.
Working with Tiarne Roots, Megan Newstead and Ash Gant has been easy, Hollie said, since they were "like family".
"We are all just best friends and it really does feel like a working family," she said.
Hollie does have aspirations of turning her studio into a beautician studio as well.
"My sister who is on maternity leave is a beautician so the plan is to get a bigger space and incorporate that side into it," she said.
Inspired by a hair and beauty salon in Canada, Hollie wants to provide hair treatments on one side and massages, waxing, facials, nails, lashes and more on the other.
"I would want to do it properly and make it private and elegant," she said.
"I am keen to do it in Lithgow because I think there is a market for it."
In the mean time, Hollie has been making small changes around the studio, such as a new coat of paint and a very stylish lounge.
"Ash Grant and Lashay Chew came around and we spent some late nights painting and having a few drinks while listening to music," she said.
"I didn't want to change the place, just make it more inviting, and the response already has been really good."
Hollie said that if it wasn't for the girls she was working with she wouldn't have been able to do any of this work.
"My family has supported me, especially my grandparents, my grandma she really helped me and I wouldn't be here without her," she said.
"I owe a lot of thanks to my daughter Lylaa for bringing out the best in me and always making me want to try my best."
