As part of Cancer Council's annual Daffodil Day Appeal (August 28), Lithgow's Rhonda Collins has taken action to raise funds for local cancer patients.

Rhonda has teamed up with The Lithgow Tin Shed to sell bunches of daffodils with all funds to go to Can Assist Lithgow.
"I've taken a basket of 20 bundles of daffodils and we're just asking for $10 a bunch," she said.
Ms Collins said people had also made donations without purchasing the flowers which she was thankful for.
She said once the money was raised she would organise a handover to Can Assist Lithgow.
"It's a matter of raising money for our local cancer patients.
"It's Daffodil Day and it's important to help support our local Can Assist who in turn support a lot of local people who are going through pretty hard times," Ms Collins said.
The daffodil is recognised internationally as the symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer.
Cancer Council chose it as the emblem as the bright yellow colouring heralds the return of spring, representing new life and growth.
The Tin Shed is open until 3pm today.
