The CDC meets approximately every six to eight weeks to advise Council on a range of community service matters.
This includes:
- Identifying the access needs of frail aged people and/or people living with a disability within the Lithgow Local Government Area.
- Identifying strategies to improve access to and within public buildings, parks and other public facilities, and inclusion in community life.
- Informing and educating the community about access and inclusion issues.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of the Lithgow Disability Inclusion Action Plan
Lithgow City mayor Cr Ray Thompson said the CDC undertook important work for Council.
"I can say that Council gives a lot of attention to matters raised by this committee," he said.
The CDC has vacancies for one community representative either living with a disability or is of frail age, or someone who is a carer.
The other position available is for a representative of an organisation involved in advocacy and/or the provision of services for people living with a disability or aged care.
"The committee has two vacancies in the disability area so I encourage members of the community to put themselves forward to help with this very important work," Cr Thompson said.
Nominations close Friday, September 11 should be submitted in writing and include the following:
- Name and address
- A short paragraph outlining your interest in joining the committee and your experience, skills or local knowledge relevant to the vacancy.
Council will then determine the appointed members to the committee.
The Committee Terms of Reference is available on Council's website council.lithgow.com.
