In particular, Blackheath and Medlow Bath are in the firing line, threatened with destruction of the fabric of those quaint villages and surroundings - and worse, the possible destruction of homes and businesses.
And if anyone thinks that the proposed upgrade will make the journey from the Central West to Sydney any faster or easier, they should read up on the facts.
There are so many smiling fools and spin-doctors with hidden agendas who are selling a giant lie.
The widening of the Great Western Highway across the Blue Mountains will not shorten your journey to Sydney.

You will hit the base of Mt Victoria and start your cautious climb up the 10 percent gradient (sometimes 13.3 per cent in places) - just like today.

You will get to Mt Victoria and enter the 60 kilometres per hour zone - just like today.
No change.
You will then continue your long drive along the Great Western Highway and encounter 27 sets of traffic lights, 16 different speed zones, six school zones, multiple pedestrian crossings and the usual traffic jams - just like today.

Ah, sorry - something WILL change.
They will be ADDING more traffic lights and ADDING more speed zones.
Can anyone honestly imagine there will be any time-saved, any journey shortened?
