The funding will go towards replacing the original toilets, which were installed in the 1950's, to new fluorescent lighting in the work area and to a 310mm hammer planer-thicknesser.
This comes thanks to a grant under Round 20 of the Australian Government's National Shed Development programme.
President of the Lithgow Men's Shed, Terence Tonkin was very happy to receive the funding.
"It'll be great to have new facilities and the improved lighting will really help the members in the work area," said Mr Tonkin.
"The lighting will also be more energy efficient and we're very grateful for the funding."
Federal Member for Calare and Minister for Decentralisation and Regional Education, Andrew Gee congratulated the members of the Men's Shed when he visited Lithgow on Wednesday.
"The Lithgow Men's Shed makes an invaluable contribution to our local community," said Mr Gee.
"The Shed has over forty members and they do some great work for local residents who need their services.
"From carving out frames for paintings, to making tables, chairs and ornaments, there is no limit to what these blokes can do.
Having run for over fourteen years, the Lithgow Men's Shed is an integral part of the Lithgow community.
"It's a great space for the blokes to meet, to do some work, and chat about whatever's on their mind. It's great fellowship, the health benefits of men's sheds can't be overstated."
The Australian Government has committed to ongoing support of men's sheds as part of the National Men's Health Strategy 2020-2030.
The programme provides men's sheds with the opportunity to apply for funding up to $10,000 through a competitive grants process.
Grants support the purchase of tools, equipment, community projects training, building maintenance and development and health improvement activities.
