POLICE have appealed for the public's assistance to help locate missing Lithgow teenager Tia Whitfield.

Tia, 14, was last seen at the intersection of Mort Street and Hartley Valley Road about 6pm yesterday Monday, August 3.

Officers from Chifley Police Districts have commenced inquiries into her whereabouts as family and police hold serious concerns for her welfare.

Tia is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 150cm tall, of thin build, with black hair and brown eyes.

She was wearing a red/black hoodie and black ripped jeans carrying a small black backpack.

Anyone who sees Tia or knows of her whereabouts is urged to contact Lithgow Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
