It took just two minutes for the visiting Oberon side to come up with points, with fullback Josh Rivett's try giving the Tigers a six-nil lead after Jake Foley's conversion.

Oberon was over again only two minutes later with Rivett's second try, again converted by Foley.

Halfback Foley continued his kicking form with his next conversion of Zane Rowlandson's try in the 13th minute for an 18-nil lead.

Waratahs' skipper Glenn Osgood, frustrated by his team's inability to stem the flow of Tigers' points, involved himself heavily in the game, taking the ball into the Oberon defence and the first man into every tackle.

Despite his strong leadership the gaps kept opening up for Oberon, and another converted try gave the visitors a 28-nil lead.

Kandos halfback Jake Hellegers tried to get his backs into motion but fast-moving defence stifled most of the Waratahs' attack.

One bright piece of Waratahs' play resulted in centre Ethan Parsons going across for a try and Daniel Steel's conversion gave Kandos six points, but following another Oberon try the home side were still behind 34-6.

In the latter part of the game the Waratahs were able to slow down the rate of the Tigers' scoring, but time ran out for them and the game closed with Oberon's 38-point win.

Two hours later under lights at Bathurst's Carrington Park CSU took the points in a high-energy game, their scrambling defence the cornerstone of their victory.

CSU withstood the barrage of attack the Warriors threw at them, and when in possession used intelligent kicking and individual skill in a good lead-up for Blake Schaeffer to score first points for the university team in the last minutes of the first quarter.

Warriors' Michael Newman later scored to equalise the score at four points each.

CSU hit back with a converted try to Finlay Grabham to give the students a 12-4 lead, and another two tries, to Jacob Watkins and Daniel Balcolme saw the Mungoes take the points 20-4.

Some of the clashes, especially by the Warriors forwards, were savage but the toll on players from both sides was minimal and the intensity of the game maintained to the final whistle.

Following the weekend's games CSU, Cargo and Oberon all share the competition lead.

In league tag Kandos and Oberon had a 10-all draw, CSU won 54-nil over the Warriors, and the hot Cargo side defeated Lithgow Bears 80-nil.

Next week the two Orange clubs are holding a gala rugby league day with league tag games preceding two Wallerawang Landscaping Cup games, between Lithgow Bears and Orange Barbarians, then in the match of the round Orange Warriors to play Oberon, before Western Rams confront the Thirroul Butchers.
