Five honest, handsome and hardworking farmers blessed our screens on Sunday night with the premier of Farmer Wants A Wife on Channel Seven.

With ladies from all over Australia putting their heart on the line, familiar faces from the Central West included Brooke MacDonald from Lithgow and Karissa Godfrey from Bathurst.

In episode one, the contestants, handpicked out of thousands of applications to find true love, flocked to the birthplace of farmer fairy tales.

Here the ladies were put into groups of eight to meet their chosen farmer, then each enjoying a short one-on-one chat before the farmers had to choose just four ladies to head back to the country for farm stays.

Brooke had to make the most of her time with 29 year-old sheep and cattle farmer Alex, from Cunnamulla in South West Queensland, while Karissa tried her luck with Merino grazier Neil Seaman, 43, from Crookwell.

Farmer Alex said all the ladies were "gorgeous" and it was "like a dream come true".

"Unfortunately I can't bring everyone home so letting them down is hard," he said.

Before her one-on-one chat with Alex, Brooke said she had been single for 24 years and she was ready to risk it all.

"I'm at that point in my life where I need to open myself up as much as I don't want to get hurt.

"[Alex] could be the one, he could be the forever." she said.

Brooke then sat with Alex and talked about family, where she was from and what she was looking for in a partner, before heading back to the group.

"I had a warm feeling from him, very comfortable, but our time was valued," she said.

After eight dates for each farmer, host Natalie Gruzlewski asked them to choose which four ladies they wanted to invite back home.

Brooke was nervous and hopeful.

"If Alex picks me, I'll be ecstatic, if he doesn't I'll be devastated."

Farmer Alex said it was a pleasure to meet all the girls but it was intense.

"It's really hard for me to only choose four to invite back to the farm."

His first pick was Henrietta, followed by Brittany and then Jessica.

With one spot remaining, Brooke was nervous and emotional, but unfortunately our hometown girl missed out with Alex picking his fourth lady, Sarah.

He thanked the remaining four ladies for giving the process a chance.

"Thank you for giving this a go, I'm emotional after the event but hopefully I'm one step closer to finding my potential wife," Alex said.

While Brooke was upset she didn't get picked, she planned to pick herself back up.

"Give me a tub of ice cream and a couple of cheeseburgers and I'll be good," she said.

Bathurst's Karissa Godfrey charmed farmer Neil and was one of his chosen ladies on her way to his Crookwell property.
