THERE'S a lot of talk these days about the Great Western Highway upgrade. I have been travelling the Great Western Highway from Kandos through the Blue Mountains for more than 80 years and if anyone thinks that widening the highway from Katoomba to Lithgow will turn this road into a Hume Highway or an M4, they are very much mistaken. In other news: What about all the traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, school zones, shopping centres, driveways and varying speed zones from Katoomba to Glenbrook? A very long time ago my late husband was a truck driver and I feel very sorry for any truck drivers who think the government is providing them with a faster, safer way to deliver goods to us out here in the west. Think again.
BEFORE: There are a number of options being considered for Blackheath as part of the proposed duplication of the Great Western Highway from Katoomba to Lithgow.
