On Saturday, July 25 the side travelled to Orange to take on Barnestoneworth FC in round four followed by a match on Sunday, July 26 at home against Parkes Cobras in round five.
Workmen's coach Martin Hunter said the men played with confidence and composure in very wet conditions to end up with an equal score on Saturday.
"With a 3-all draw result, we were lucky to earn an own goal scored by the Barnestoneworth centre back going into the break 2-1 down," he said.
He said Brad Luka's goal was struck precisely to make it 2-all, followed by Dom Smith pushing the score to 3-2 after a well built team goal.
"We definitely deserved to win the game in the second half but the opposition equalised in the last few minutes of the match," he said.
Hunter said goalkeeper Sam Johnson was strong as always with multiple good saves, while Dom Smith played outstanding in the 10, linking play between lines.
"Logan Inwood and Jordan Fordham also played as their usual best, with smart decisions and lots of work done in their 90 mins," he said.
He said Workmen's would continue working on keeping a clean sheet.
"If we don't concede as easy on set prices we will be even harder to beat," he said.
Hunter said he looked forward to play Barnestoneworth again in a mid-week game on good ground at Bathurst.
There was no rest for the wicked as Workmen's met with Parkes at 2pm for another wet match, resulting in a 3-1 victory.
Co-coach Matt Nunan said the weekend proved to be positive for Workmen's.
"We have taken a lot of positives out of this weekend more so than any negatives.
"It's hard to see what we can improve only because fatigue from a double header started to set in," he said.
He said the squad thrived after tweaking some positions which paid off.
"We have linked combinations better across the park, a much more creative team - positive signs," he said.
Nunan said man of the match was Logan Inwood who dominated the middle of the field followed by a stand out goal scoring performance by Ben Sheehan who scored one of the first hat-tricks of the WPL season.
Parkes Cobras coach Meaghan Kempson gave credit to the Lithgow side for backing up in a double header.
"That was a massive effort, very gutsy, hats off to them," she said.
As for the Parkes side, Kempson said they played "really well" but there were some things to work on.
"Once again it's sort of the story of our season, our front third is letting us down not the players individually but just our ability to get the ball in the back of the net."
She said the squad would continue to work on playing out from the back and have a structured build up when attacking.
Stand out players according to Kempson, were Hayden Fletcher, Jayden Wirth and Adam Parker.
BARNSTONEWORTH UNITED 3 (Grant Koch 2, Dylan Hallz) drew with LITHGOW WORKMEN'S 3 (own goal, Brad Luka, Dom Smith).
LITHGOW WORKMEN'S 3 (Ben Sheehan 3) defeated PARKES COBRAS 1 (Jayden Wirth)
