Having the home side advantage really played to the strengths of the Panthers as they demolished Orange in a 4-0 victory.

They hadn't played a proper game together since September and have only had three weeks of training but that didn't stop the side from showing why they were the grand final winners of 2019.

Panthers coach David Marshall said he was really happy with the way his side played in the first match of the season.

"We knew we had to be on ball from the start, especially due to the shortened season so I thought we dominated the game from the outset and I think they [CYMS'] really only had one opportunity to score the whole game and that was it," he said.

"Our girls were very dominating in that performance, it was good to see."

Starting strong from the get go, the Panthers had some unlucky misses as they spent majority of the time in the CYMS' half.

The Lithgow side took their first goal in the first three minutes of the match but then had a dry spell for the rest of the quarter.

Both sides also couldn't put any into the net in the second quarter, leaving it 1-0 at half time.

CYM's goal keeper Kimberley Kiel did a good job to hold off the ongoing attack from Lithgow players.

But Lithgow got their heads back in the game in the third quarter. The side scored their second goal three minutes in and then 12 minutes later they found the back of the net once again.

Marshall said that he thought his side controlled the ball really well, which helped create more chances for them.

"I think our positional play and structure helped us out throughout the game, and that showed with the amount of possession we had," he said.

The side really sealed the deal when Lithgow's Rylee Millar put one into the back of the net with four minutes to go in the last quarter.

Marshall said this match just showed why the Panther's girls deserved their premiership title in 2019.

"Hopefully this sends the message out, that these girls are out to do it again," he said.

CYMS' coach Pete Shea said that despite the loss he thought his side performed pretty well.

"Probably three out of the four goals they got were a result of our errors, we got eliminated, we made mistakes, there was short corner where we hit it back through the middle, so we played okay but just a lack of experience cost us a couple of goals," he said.

Shea said that he didn't want to take anything away from the Panthers side though.

"They're a highly experienced, highly capable side, so for us to compete the way we did was pretty good," he said.

But it all came down to a lack of experience, according to Shea.

"Look at our side...over half the team is under 20, we only have four players out of 13 who are over 20 so that's where we're at, but I thought we did pretty well," he said.
