The line to Rydal was not quite completed but the contractor pulled the train and the official party arrived.
This was a significant step in the progress of rail across the state and for quite a while Rydal was where people and goods made the stop and had to use other forms of transport such as horses, coaches or wagons to go any further.
July 1, 2020 will be another significant date for the Rydal Railway Station, marking 150 years since that first train arrived.

The station has had some extra coats of paint and the building is in good order.
With the Rydal Village Association having the lease of the Railway Station, visitors and residents can stay at the station, this is a unique situation because there is three bedroom accommodation.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, plans for a celebration have been modified but there will be a small event on that date when the Bathurst Bullet comes through at 8.20am.
Rydal Events
Covid-19 has also caused the cancellation of Daffodils at Rydal 2020.
Rydal has been running this festival since 2002 and has donated $201,239.00 to charities in the Lithgow district.
Plans are already being made however for Daffodils at Rydal 2021 and we look forward to seeing lots of visitors.
In the meantime the Rydal Village Association is asking for residents to drive through Rydal, take a picnic, enjoy the parks and enjoy the views.
