But in the case of Luscious Lucy Plump 'mmm' Juicy, the brand new pie shop and cafe at 94 Bentinck Street, the tailor-made pies and sausage rolls are only part of what the store wants to offer to the Bathurst community.
"Lucy isn't just our home, it's everyone's home now," Luscious Lucy owner Cara Oloman said.
"Not only do we have a fantastic range of pies, we want to ensure each customer feels embraced and prepared for the rest of the day."
Luscious Lucy's pies were voted the best in Australia in 2011 by ABC Radio and during their 11-month tenure in Portland last year, sold 70,000 pies in a town of around 2400 people.
Ms Oloman said the impact of last summer's bushfire season brought about the closure of the Portland shop, and has taken a bold step to open in Bathurst in the midst of COVID-19.
"We've spent the last few weeks easing into the new store to sort out all the usual teething problems and for the time being, we're encouraging people to 'take away' to get around social distancing," she said.
"Once we get back to normal, we're hoping to turn this shop into a vibrant community hub for children's birthday parties and live entertainment."
Ms Oloman said the shop is capable of producing over 73 flavours of pies, with all mixes hand-made with fresh ingredients.
"We only use chicken breast, topside steak and butcher-quality sausage mince, hardly anything is canned," she said.
"It's part of our motto: for a full belly pie or a devilish dish, she [Lucy] will grant your every wish."

Ms Oloman has moved the store to Bathurst with her husband, Darryl and children Kaisha, Jy and Kitti, and have together furnished and renovated from the ground up.
"We're hoping to stage some sort of grand opening event when we're a bit more settled," she said.
