Motorists in the Central West will find it much safer to enter or exit the Great Western Highway at Range Road, Meadow Flat now that a $2.1 million upgrade has been completed.

The NSW Government funded upgrade included widening of the road and the installation of safety barriers to ensure the intersection was a safe as possible, according to Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole.
"The lack of a dedicated turning lane into Range Road with the number of heavy vehicles utilising the highway was of real concern, so we've upgraded the intersection to fix that," he said.

He said this section of the Great Western Highway was a key route for residents, commuters, the freight industry and visitors alike as it linked the communities of Bathurst, Lithgow and Portland.
"The safety improvements to the Range Road intersection is another example of our ambitious road upgrade program, designed to make key roads like the Great Western Highway, which have heavy and light vehicles in close proximity, as safe and reliable as possible," he said.
