Councillor Wayne McAndrew said council's actions represent a significant vote of confidence in mayor Thompson to continue to steer them through the COVID-19 crisis, as he did during the bushfire emergency.
"That is why I moved the motion supporting the delegation during this crisis," Cr McAndrew said.
"The delegation is subject to regular reporting and review, and in my opinion is a common sense approach putting the interests of our residents first and foremost in facilitating quick decision making when it can reasonably occur."
Council convened for the first time on Monday, April 6 using remote teleconferencing and using block voting where possible to get through the business of Council during the crisis.
"I know the Administration is looking at ways to accommodate public input within the limited constraints that we are currently faced with during this period," Cr McAndrew said.
