ROUTINE breast screening has been temporarily suspended by BreastScreen across NSW due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The decision was made on Thursday in an effort to "prioritise the wellbeing of women, staff and our community", BreastScreen NSW said.
"If you've had your appointment cancelled, you will be notified by BreastScreen NSW directly as soon as possible," they said.

"We will contact you again to reschedule your appointment when the service re-opens."
For people waiting on a results, BreastScreen said you will be notified of your results by letter.
For recalls and additional test, people have been advised that you will still be able to attend your follow-up appointments.
"We encourage you to remain breast aware and if you find a breast change that is unusual for you, contact your doctor or health worker without delay," BreastScreen said.
"Thank you for your support and understanding. Take care of yourselves and each other during this difficult time."
