The 32 year-old talent has jetted to St Kilda where he will take on the top 16 athletes from around the country in an individual competition testing endurance and skill.

The athletes will need to chop and saw their way through four extreme disciplines back-to-back in a knockout competition.

De Losa said the competition was an endurance event and he would need to complete four disciplines, four times by himself to win.

"You must win four rounds to be the overall winner," he said.

He said it would be a challenging competition but he looked forward to it.

"I'm looking forward to the competition and hopefully a good performance.

"It's very physically demanding so the whole event is very challenging," he said.

The winner of the knockout competition will not only be crowned Australian Champion, but will also go on to represent Australia at the World Trophy Competition in Austria on May 21, against athletes from 12 other countries including New Zealand, USA, Canada and Germany.

De Losa said he always loved the opportunity to represent his country.

"I'd love to get the opportunity to represent Australia and try to win my fourth international title.

"In this event it's always a great competition," he said.

De Losa wanted to thank his personal trainer Rod Hawken, Engineered for Axeman for supplying his equipment and Elwood Workwear.

He also wanted to thank his family and local supporters who continue to follow his wood chopping journey.
