For over 10 years, these legendary fundraisers have supported Redkite and on Tuesday, February 4 their efforts were officially recognised.
David, his wife Suellen and son Jacob were presented with a custom plaque celebrating the couple's decade-long achievement at a ceremony at the charity's headquarters in Sydney.
David said it was his wife's idea to get involved with the charity.
"We really loved the people involved with Redkite, they're extremely passionate about their work and that's why we chose them," he said.
"We also wanted a charity where all of the money really went to those in need and it's extremely worthwhile cause."
Since 2009, the Rawsthornes have raised $38,035 through the 'Lithgow Lights' event on Finlay Avenue, an impressive animated visual light and music display, featuring over 33,000 twinkling lights.
David said the lights have now become an annual pilgrimage for families travelling from regional New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
"Each year, we've always tried to make the light display spectacular enough to get people to get out of their car and go 'wow!'," he said.
David says he was always so surprised by the number of visitors who visit the house and have a connection to Redkite.
"My family and I always try to greet people at the house and encourage them to make donations to Redkite," he said.
David plans on making this years Christmas lights show even bigger.
"I'm already organising purchasing new sets of lights. Every year we always try to outdo ourselves and make the best show possible," he said.
An incredible $2500 was raised over last Christmas by generous locals and visitors.
Redkite CEO, Monique Keighery, said she was incredibly grateful for the Rawsthorne family's commitment to help Redkite.
"Their amazing fundraising efforts have gone a long way to help children and families facing cancer," she said.
"It costs approximately $2500 a year to cover the cost of a child's cancer journey. Through their generous contributions for over a decade, they have effectively supported 15 Redkite families and they should feel very proud of what they have achieved."
Redkite provides vital support services such as counselling, career and education support, and financial assistance to children, young people and their families facing cancer.
The Rawsthornes said they will continue to support Redkite in 2020 for their 12th consecutive year.
