A DELIBERATELY lit bushfire that occurred near Lithgow is under investigation by police, with officers calling on the public for information.

At 10.40am on Monday, January 27, emergency services were alerted to a fire in bushland on the corner of Laurie and Ridge streets in Portland.
Members of the public extinguished the blaze before Fire and Rescue NSW arrived and ensured the blaze was out.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Police have called for any witnesses or motorists who may have been in the area and have dash cam vision, to contact investigators at Lithgow Police Station on 6352 8399.
