Kindergarten students at St Patrick's School were very excited to be joining big school, while La Salle Academy was excited to welcome 52 year seven students.
The Lithgow Mercury caught up with the two new kindergarten classes on their first day of school when they were learning all about how to focus in lessons.
While in another part of town La Salle principal Mrs Smith was welcoming the new year seven students to La Salle Academy, at an all school assembly.

Year seven students were issued with their timetable and diaries this morning, and given a run down of what their high school days will entail.
All La Salle staff would like to welcome the new students, especially the year seven students.
"We look forward to getting to know you better as the year progresses," they said.
While year seven, 10 and 12 started today, year eight, nine and 11 will return tomorrow.
