Ten Lithgow residents were welcomed with open arms into the community as Australian citizens on Sunday, January 26.

"Today is an exciting day as we welcome 10 new Australian citizens to Lithgow," Mayor Ray Thompson said.
Family Caryl, Diovanni and Ben Baysa were excited to be part of the ceremony along with Lisa Croxton, Peceli Denicaucau, Charles Lee, Florence and Samuel Lenkaak, Evalyn Owen and Eva Regitz.
Each new citizen recited the citizen pledge and were officially acknowledged as Australian citizens.

Australia Day ambassador Susanne Gervay spoke about how her parents immigrated to Australia from war torn Hungary.
"My dad always wanted to be a farmer, it was his first love," she said.
And despite some hardships speaking the English language, instead speaking 'Hunglish', they prospered and were welcomed.
"So we welcome you as well to not just to Lithgow but all of Australia," she said.
