What struck her was the distress of children who had been displaced from their homes with their families who were forced to flee their homes.

Not one to stand by, she and friend Melissa Brown from Lithgow, started a group on Facebook and put the call out, requesting toy donations to give to local children affected by the fires.
The response from the community was significant, with hundreds of donations stacking up in the meal room of the Mudgee Police Station. It wasn't just toys either, but numerous adult gift packs and toiletries.
Given the sheer number of donations, the decision was made to extend the use of the donations to people impacted by the drought with the assistance of 200 Bales and Donna Collins of the Mudgee We Care Community Shop.
Amanda said she was was touched by the passionate response from the community and extends her gracious thanks to all who donated.
