Mount Piper power station owner EnergyAustralia has recently provided additional water from Lake Lyell to support the National Parks Wildlife Service (NPWS) and Rural Fire Service firefighting personnel working to manage the bushfires in the Grose Valley.

Following a request by the NPWS incident controller, EnergyAustralia released an additional 50 megalitres per day from December 23 to January 6 to support firefighting efforts.

The water flows have now been cancelled as the NPWS has advised they are no longer required.
The advertised Annual Channel Maintenance Flow involving a release of up to 1000 megalitres from the Coxs River System below Lake Lyell from January 7 to January 10 was also cancelled in consultation with WaterNSW to minimise impacts to water quality in the catchment following the recent fires.
